Infrared saunas work to transform light directly to electricity using infrarot heaters. This heat has the effect of heating adjacent surfaces without increasing ambient temperature; in other terms, heat is consumed by a bather in an infrared sauna, but the surrounding ambient does not.

An infrared sauna heater requires no water so moisture barriers, special drainage structures or complicated electrical wiring are not needed.
